The Alexa is the keystone of Arri’s line of digital cinema cameras. The Alexa is a simple and intuitive system, designed with film cameras in mind. Since its release it has been a go-to camera for films and commercials due to its reliability, consistency, and the beautiful images produced. TIPS FROM THE TECH
If your project has no need for high resolution recording (more than 2k) then this is your go-to camera. The Alexa produces rich images recorded with the easy-to-work-with ProRes codec. This camera is built solid for durability, but it can be a bit heavy and cumbersome for handheld use. If your project calls for handheld shots you may want to consider the Amira, but if the camera will live on sticks or be in a studio setting the Alexa is a proven success.
